Blueprint Printing for Winston-Salem: Stamped Commercial Plans Printed for the Job
Winston-Salem plan sets print at $1.95 a sheet in black and white or $3.75 in color, from 18×24 through 36×48, and anything ordered by 3 PM ET ships the same day to any of the 50 states. The City stopped taking new paper plans for commercial review: everything goes through the GeoCivix portal, permits come back by email, and the City then releases the stamped approved plans for you to print and keep on the job. That released PDF is what we print, at the size it was drawn.

Where we ship in Winston-Salem
We ship to Downtown and Innovation Quarter projects, Old Salem, Ardmore and the West End, and out to Clemmons, Kernersville and Lewisville in Forsyth County. We also ship to Greensboro and High Point. Those towns aren’t covered by the City’s GeoCivix rules on this page, and Charlotte’s plan review is run by Mecklenburg County.
What Winston-Salem plan review asks for
Commercial and residential plans go in through GeoCivix, the City’s digital submission portal. For commercial jobs, the paper comes back at the end, when the City releases the stamped plans for you to print. From the City’s Commercial Plan Review Submittals and GeoCivix pages:
| Rule | What the City says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial: electronic | “All commercial plan review submittals must be submitted electronically.” · “No new paper plans will be accepted.” | Commercial Plan Review Submittals page |
| Residential: electronic | “All residential building permit applications must be submitted electronically.” | GeoCivix Digital Submission Portal page |
| “These documents are required to be in the PDF format.” | Same | |
| Permits by email | “Note all permits are completed and issued VIA EMAIL” | Commercial Plan Review Submittals page |
| Print for the job | “we will release the stamped approved plans for you to print and have on the job.” | Same |
| Seals | “Per NC General Statutes, projects that are 3,000+ square feet or valued at $200,000+ require an architectural seal and signature.” | Same (FAQ) |
And for your print order:
- The City releases the plans; you print them. For commercial permits the stamped approved plans come to you electronically to print and keep on the job. Upload that stamped file to us. If they come as several files, upload every file, or combine them into one PDF in the order you want them printed.
- Print at the drawn size. Print at the size of the stamped PDF so the scale holds; 24×36 and 30×42 are the same $1.95 a sheet.
- One set on the job, one in the office. The City asks for the plans on the job. If the GC or owner also wants a set, add copies to the same order or place a second order to another address.
- Residential is electronic too. The City takes new houses, additions, alterations and pools through GeoCivix. Its pages don’t state a printed-set rule for residential jobs, so check with the Inspections Division if you’re not sure what to keep on site.
Keep the scale by printing the stamped PDF at its drawn size. If the City-released set is 24×36 or 30×42, print it at that size.
The stamped PDF is printed as-is on white 20 lb bond; we don’t add, move or remove the City’s stamp. The City’s Inspections Division and your architect decide what’s needed on the job, so check with them first.
