An older fillable version still on the township site gives one copy fewer of each (3 and 3 in historic districts, 2 and 2 elsewhere). This guide follows the 2025 sheet, so print the higher count unless the Land Use office tells you otherwise.
What the survey has to show
The sheet says surveys “must be prepared by a land surveyor” and must show existing conditions drawn to scale: metes and bounds, drainage, waterways, utility locations and easements. The survey information can be moved onto a site plan if the plan notes the survey date, who prepared it and for whom. Every plan has to show the lot’s shape and dimensions, the exact location, size and height of existing and proposed structures, the number of dwelling units, and off-street parking and loading.
Three rules that trip people up
- Applications aren’t accepted by fax or email.
- Both the applicant and the property owner must sign.
- If the property has been before the Planning Board or Board of Adjustment, include the board resolution and the board-approved signed plans with the zoning application.
Zoning may not be the only approval. The sheet points you to the Construction Department (ext. 260), Engineering, and the Historic Preservation Commission for properties in a historic district.
