Blueprint Printing for Colorado Springs: Job-Site Prints of Your Pikes Peak Regional Building Plan

Building plans for a Colorado Springs project go to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, which also serves El Paso County, Fountain, Manitou Springs, Monument, Palmer Lake, Green Mountain Falls, Calhan and Woodland Park. PPRBD will take one complete residential plan either on paper or electronically. If you go electronic, its residential plan review packet says the submittal will need to be printed and kept on the building site, where inspectors can get to it, and its Electronic Plan Information page says a paper copy of the final approved plan must be on the job site for project types that require it. Check which applies to your permit. We turn that approved PDF into prints at $1.95 a sheet in black and white or $3.75 in color. Get the order in by 3 PM ET and it ships the same day, to any address in all 50 states.

Sending sets around the Pikes Peak region

Typical drop-offs are a builder’s office on the north end near Briargate, a remodel in the Old North End, or a new lot out toward Banning Lewis Ranch. Because PPRBD reviews for the whole member list above, a set headed to Monument or Fountain follows the same building-plan rules, though zoning sign-off still comes from the town where the lot sits.

What that means when you order

  • E-filed? Check whether your permit needs paper on site. PPRBD’s residential packet says an electronic submittal will need to be printed for the building site, and its Electronic Plan Information page ties the job-site paper copy to the project types that require it. If yours does, download the approved plan and order one full set for the building site. Add a second if the superintendent wants a desk copy.
  • Hold the drawn scale. PPRBD’s floor is 1/8 inch to the foot, with 1/4 inch preferred, and 1/8 inch lettering. Shrinking a sheet to fit a smaller size can push both under the line, so print at the size the sheets were drawn. Our blueprint scale guide explains how to read the scale bar.
  • Swapping pages on a paper plan. When PPRBD sends corrections on a paper submittal, you replace sheets instead of reprinting everything. Order just the changed pages; see printing revised sheets.
  • A splice after the permit. A paper splice starts with one copy of each revised sheet at the plan review counter, which is a single-sheet print job.

PPRBD and your designer decide what the plan must include and when a splice is needed. We print the file you upload and don’t deal with PPRBD for you, so check the requirements with the department before you order.

Who we print for in Colorado Springs

  • Homeowners drawing and submitting their own plans, which the packet allows for owners who intend to pull the permit. See plan printing for homeowners.
  • Licensed home builders keeping an approved site set on each lot.
  • Remodelers swapping corrected pages into a paper plan set.
  • Designers who need one clean copy of a revised sheet for a splice.

Frequently asked questions

Who reviews building plans for Colorado Springs?

The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. Its residential packet lists Colorado Springs along with El Paso County, Fountain, Green Mountain Falls, Manitou Springs, Monument, Palmer Lake, Calhan and Woodland Park.

If I submit electronically, do I still need a printed plan?

PPRBD’s residential packet says an electronic submittal will need to be printed and kept on the building site at all times, accessible to inspectors. Its Electronic Plan Information page says a paper copy of the final approved plan must be available to inspectors on the job site for types of projects that require it, so confirm with PPRBD for your permit.

What scale does PPRBD want?

Apart from the site plan, no smaller than 1/8 inch = 1 foot, with 1/4 inch preferred, and lettering at least 1/8 inch tall. Plans that miss those criteria can be rejected.

How do paper resubmittals work?

You insert the new page into the plan set and pull the old one, then return every old page with the corrected set.

What do I bring for a paper splice?

One copy of the revised sheet or sheets, presented at the plan review counter to get a Plan Label. PPRBD lists a $50 minimum splice fee.

When will my order ship?

Orders placed by 3 PM ET ship the same day.
