Civil Engineering Plan Printing: Site, Grading, Drainage and Subdivision Plans

Civil sets are some of the largest drawings a project produces, and reviewers check them with an engineer’s scale. That means each sheet has to print at the exact size it was drawn. Print My Plans prints civil and site plans from your PDF at full size, in black and white or color, with no minimum order.

What we print for civil projects

  • Site plans: layout, setbacks, parking, circulation and zoning tables.
  • Grading plans: existing and proposed contours, spot elevations and finished floor elevations.
  • Drainage and stormwater plans: inlets, pipe runs, basins and drainage area maps.
  • Utility plans: water, sanitary sewer, storm, gas and electric layouts, with profiles.
  • Subdivision plats: minor and major subdivision maps and lot consolidation plans.
  • Supporting sheets: soil erosion and sediment control, landscaping, lighting, details and cross-sections.

For a homeowner permit that only needs a survey or plot plan, see how to print a survey or plot plan for a permit.

Sheet sizes for civil and site plans

Civil sheets are commonly drawn on one of three large sizes, and we print all three:

We also print 18 x 24 (Arch C). Pick the size your engineer set up in the PDF. A sheet drawn at 30 x 42 and printed at 30 x 42 keeps its scale, so 1″ = 30′ still measures 1″ = 30′.

Keep the scale true:

  1. Check the PDF page size. Open the file’s document properties, or use our PDF page size checker, and confirm the page size matches the sheet you’re ordering.
  2. Order each size separately. If your set has both 24 x 36 and 30 x 42 sheets, upload each size as its own item.
  3. Leave the scale bar on. Most civil sheets carry a graphic scale, which lets reviewers check the print.

Black and white or color for site plans?

Black and white ($1.95/sheet) is the usual choice for submission sets. Line work, contours and hatching read clearly in black and white, and the Ocean County Planning Board asks for its digital plan copies in “Black and White Only” (Digital Requirements).

Color ($3.75/sheet) earns its cost when color carries information:

  • Utility plans where each system has its own color.
  • Wetlands, flood zone or environmental constraint maps.
  • Aerial overlays and renderings for a public hearing or client meeting.

You can order a black and white submission set and a few color sheets for the meeting table as separate items. To total up a mixed set before you order, use the plan printing cost calculator.

How many sets do county planning boards ask for?

County planning boards review subdivisions and site plans that affect county roads or drainage facilities. Here’s what the Ocean County and Monmouth County boards’ own documents say. Always check the current requirements for your application.

Ocean County Planning Board

From the board’s Applications and Submissions page and its site plan, major subdivision and minor subdivision checklists:

  • Plans: the subdivision plat or site plan, prepared, signed and sealed by a Professional Engineer and/or Professional Land Surveyor: “three (3) sets PLUS one (1) digital copy.” The submissions page describes this as a sealed original plat or site plan map plus two paper copies.
  • Application: three copies, on legal size paper.
  • Reports: traffic and drainage reports for major subdivisions and site plans, and county road improvement plans if the project is on a county road: three hard copies and one digital copy each.
  • Scale: plans drawn at a scale of not more than 50 feet to the inch, at a size that conforms to the Recordation Act.
  • Digital copy: a PDF on CD or USB (email isn’t accepted) that is an exact copy of the signed and sealed prints. The board lists the size as “ArchD (24″ x 36″) or ArchE (30″ x 42″) if necessary” and asks for black and white only.

Monmouth County Planning Board (Development Review Committee)

Monmouth County’s amended development regulations took effect Aug 1, 2026 (Development Regulations). The Addendum B-3 Submission Checklist included in the adopted regulations (Volume 1, effective Aug 1, 2026) asks for:

  • Plans: “Two (2) complete sets of site plan or subdivision plat, signed and sealed.”
  • Application: the original plus one copy, signed and dated.
  • Digital copy: plans and documents by email or on a USB flash drive.
  • Reports: one copy each of the stormwater report, the traffic report and the drainage area map to the nearest downstream county bridge or culvert, where required. The county’s Development Review page says stormwater analyses must include full-sized drainage area maps drawn to scale.
  • Revisions: revised plans submitted after conditions of approval go in as two sets.

Your town’s planning or zoning board

Municipal boards set their own copy counts, and they differ from town to town, so we don’t list them here. Use your town’s current application checklist or ask the board secretary, then add the county’s sets if your project needs county review.

How ordering works

  1. Export the PDF from your CAD software at 100% scale, at the sheet size of the drawing.
  2. Upload it on the blueprint printing order page, then choose the size (18×24, 24×36, 30×42, 36×46 or 36×48) and black and white or color.
  3. Set the quantity to the number of sets you need, and check out.

FAQ

Do you print 30×42 civil sheets?

Yes. Our size menu lists Arch E1 (30 x 42) along with 18 x 24, 24 x 36, 36 x 46 and 36 x 48.

What scale will my site plan print at?

The scale your engineer set in the drawing, as long as the PDF page size matches the sheet size you order. A 30 x 42 PDF printed at 30 x 42 keeps its scale.

Should site plans be printed in color?

Black and white is the usual choice for submission sets, and Ocean County asks for black and white digital plan copies. Use color for sheets where color carries meaning, such as utility or environmental constraint plans.

How many sets does the county planning board want?

Ocean County’s checklists ask for three signed and sealed sets plus one digital copy. Monmouth County’s checklist, in the regulations effective Aug 1, 2026, asks for two signed and sealed sets plus a digital copy. Your town’s board sets its own count.

How much does it cost to print a civil set?

Black and white is $1.95 per sheet and color is $3.75 per sheet, at 18×24, 24×36, 30×42, 36×46 or 36×48. For example, three sets of a 20-sheet black and white set is 60 sheets, or $117.00 before shipping.
